A First Time Snorkeller

As the waves brushed against the sandy shore, a primal energy surged through the air reminding me of the untamed power of the sea in Maldives. The clear but salty water was calling me to splash in it. So, gazing at the waves from my hotel’s balcony was truly exotic. So, I scurried to the beach to try a new and fun activity – Snorkelling.

My first snorkelling attempt was in the pool. I carefully listened to my instructor and wore the snorkelling gear and life jacket. Breathing was difficult initially, but my body regulated to it. Then I boarded a speed boat which sped towards mid-sea. There, deep in the aqua blue ocean there were pinkish corals, grey sharks, navy blue and yolk yellow striped fishes swimming beneath the boat. The shark was quite near me, so I swiftly swam towards the boat, without enraging the shark!

My proud moment was when I snorkelled in the deep ocean. The most unique aspect was swimming amongst the vibrant school of fish, and not disturbing the sea-predators. In the future, I look forward to snorkelling further and exploring exotic sea-life.
