An Abandoned Shipwreck
Rivansh Kothari | Age 11 | Mumbai | Narrative Genre
The abandoned shipwreck stood as an ancient mystic, but its walls covered in moss and fungus was a testament to an abandoned catastrophic occurrence. The shipwreck was on the seashore of an island stranded in the middle of nowhere. The rumour had it that no-one had dared to put foot in that shipwreck because suspicions arose that the islanders believe paranormal activities. The daredevil inside me never stopped raging with curiosity, so…
Flying to Jell Island to explore the abandoned shipwreck and demystify the Islander’s beliefs, was a well-thought idea for me. Gazing at the shipwreck from the aeroplane’s view, seemed wild and haunted in real life. After landing, a chilled breeze tickled me. Soon, I arrived at the shipwreck. I took a foot inside the shipwreck – it felt like goosebumps rose on my arms. Then, each step forward felt like a wandering soul was following me.
Strolling forward, a shadowy figure was faintly observed, and it was gliding towards me. Suddenly, my torch turned off, camera fumbled out of my hands shattering it into pieces. Then pure darkness took over as the moon was enveloped by the grey clouds. I was as afraid as a mouse who was in hiding from a spooky cat. So, the only option I had: exit the shipwreck in secrecy before turmoil would strike me…. So, I sprinted blindly hoping that the exit door would be nearby. Fortunately, I was right as a ray of sunlight radiated from the ajar door, hinting me to escape. It was a traumatizing experience for me, but strange to witness paranormal beings on that abandoned shipwreck.
